Toe walking is very common in children from one years old to three years old. After 3 years old if your child is still toe walking it is typically due to a tight Achilles tendon or limited flexion at the ankle.
Posterior calf muscle exercises can help, however a custom fit orthotic with a rigid heel counter and a built-in heel lift can definitely help to allow a heel to ground contact thereby allowing a heel to toe gait.
