The goal of any pedorthic assessment is to develop the best treatment plan for our patient. We all know about custom orthotics and how they’re made from a scan of a patient’s foot but consider off-the-shelf orthotics. They’re not custom made, but they can be quite effective.
A brand that we like to use is the carbon line from Superfeet. The reason for that is they’re actually made out of carbon fiber at the shell so they’re much more rigid than your standard off-the-shelf orthotics which is going to give you a lot more stability and support They are also going to last a lot longer for you as well.
Off the shelf orthotics are also really good for children because you never know when their feet are going to grow so you don’t run the risk of outgrowing a custom product in a couple months.
