Intoeing or pigeon toed is when you notice that your child’s toes face inwards. Sometimes it can be a problem especially if when they’re trying to run they trip over themselves and they can’t be active. If that’s the case you really should get that looked at.
The research on intoeing is really scattered. Some people will tell you it will correct itself and others say it may not.
If you find that intoeing is causing a decrease in activity level then come on in and let us figure it out.
There are things that we can do for intoeing. There are orthotics that are created specifically to make the toes move outwards. Be careful when you have these in the shoe. You’re not going to see a perfect straightening of the foot, you’re going to maybe see a couple of degrees, but sometimes that’s enough to make sure your child is able to be active and grow and fundamentally develop in the right plane.
If you have any questions about intoeing come on in and talk to us and we’d be happy to help. Call Burlington Orthotic Centre today at 905-331-4391 for details.
